Top Finnish design from the 1950s, carefully thought-out lighting, colours and soft flooring for a friendly and cozy atmosphere, and beautiful windows bringing natural light and the city outside into the rooms. At the international level, states from the Global South (i.e. Africa, Asia and Latin America) agree that responsible business means transferring knowhow, resources and technology from the north to the south, and that companies must not violate state sovereignty. At the national level, these states can steer foreign companies' CSR activities, so that resources are channelled towards public and private actors in positions of power.

Vaasa city library is moving to a new library system. The library system is used for managing all library materials, loans, and customer data. Due to the change, all library locations will be closed between May 22 and June 6, 2023. During this period, the online library catalogue will also be unavailable.

The University Collegium of Hanken approved the financial statements for 2022 at its meeting on 8 May 2023. Hanken's operating result in 2022 was -2.9 million compared to the budgeted –3,0 million.

Responsible investment has traditionally mainly focused on environmental issues, but the social responsibility dimension is becoming increasingly important. The war in Ukraine and the pandemic may be a contributing factor, says Emilia Vähämaa, Wärtsilä Associate Professor at the Hanken School of Economics.

Limiting global warming requires reducing substantially the greenhouse gases that our economies emit, particularly the emissions of firms driving economic activity. The European Union committed to reduce emissions down to net zero by 2050 and Finland by 2035. Meeting these commitments requires continued actions of governments and firms, but also of financial actors.

Political discussions about whether to merge Hanken in Vaasa with Åbo Akademi University or with the University of Vaasa have been ongoing ever since Hanken in Vaasa was established in 1980. Today Sören Kock, dean and rector’s representative in Vaasa, sees the possibility of Hanken in Vaasa remaining as Hanken in a positive light. “I find it fascinating that a Triple-Crown accredited university manages to operate in two locations,” Kock remarks.

Hanken scores very well in the latest exchange student survey among students that visited Hanken during spring 2018. All of the 54 respondents would recommend Hanken as host university for exchange studies, which is an exceptional score.

Sometimes it is good to take a break from studying and exercise. UniSport, which is a joint venture by Hanken, the University of Helsinki and Aalto University, offers sports and exercise services to a special price for students at Hanken.

The foundation stone of the new eight storey building on the Arcada Campus in Arabianranta, Helsinki, was put up on 17 January 2018. The new building will have have 103 student apartments and state of the art sports facilities.

Reverse Shots is a pictorial project by Mexican artist Jose Antonio Ochoa exhibited at Hanken in Helsinki for a week beginning on 25 September. Ochoa will be present at the exhibition on 28 September at 12-14 to meet with students and staff.
