Attachments

1) Senior secondary school certificate / latest grade report from 12th grade + possible translation into English, Swedish or Finnish if not issued in one of these languages. See specific requirements below concerning your certificate. Note that if you are graduating during spring 2024 you need to submit your final degree certificate by the 11.7.2024 at 15.00 (Finnish time).

2) SAT or ACT score Opens in new window result, if applicable. 

3) Passport identification page, if applicable.

If you have graduated

If you have completed the Finnish Matriculation examination 1990 or later you do not need to upload your certificate. We receive your results electronically directly from the national register.

If you have completed the Finnish Matriculation examination before 1990 you should upload a copy of your certificate in the application form in Studyinfo no later than 24.1.2024 at 3 pm (Finnish time). 

If you are graduating the same spring as applying

If you are completing the Finnish Matriculation Examination during the spring 2024, you do not need to upload your certificates. We receive your results electronically directly from the national register.

Note! Your application will be considered in the certificate based admission if both your grades and your completed Matriculation Examination can be confirmed in the national register at the latest 14.5.2024. Hanken is not responsible for possible delays caused by the senior secondary schools (lukio/gymnasium). 

If you are unsure if your Finnish Matriculation Examination will be completed during the spring 2024, and you have completed another certificate which gives eligibility for university level studies we recommend that you submit a copy of the other certificate by the given deadline for attachments. 

If you have graduated

Upload a copy of your degree certificate (Diploma up to 2012, The Diploma of the International Baccalaureate from 2013) through the application form at the latest. If you are admitted your admission will be conditional. 

You can request that the IBO International Baccalaureate Organisation delivers your grades electronically directly to Hanken School of Economics through the IBIS service. Your diploma must be delivered to Hanken by 24.1.2024 at 3 pm Finnish time. Admission is based on the diploma submitted to Hanken during the application period.

If you are graduating during the spring of applying

Submit the Candidate Predicted Grades with the school stamp through the application form no later than 3.4.2024 at 3 pm (Finnish time). If you are admitted your admission will be conditional until you have submitted your final diploma. The final diploma must be submitted no later than 11.7.2024. You can request that the IBO International Baccalaureate Organisation delivers your grades electronically directly to Hanken School of Economics through the IBIS service. If you have graduated

Upload a copy of your degree certificate in the Studyinfo application form at the latest 24.1.2024 at 3 pm. If you are admitted the admission will be conditional. Submit a officially certified copy of your certificate if you are conditionally admitted.

If you are completing your degree during the spring of applying

Submit an official pre-evaluation of your grades on the application form no later than 3.4.2024 at 3 pm. If you are admitted the admission will be conditional. Submit a officially certified copy of your certificate if you are conditionally admitted.

Please note that a Reifeprüfung or Deutches Internationales Abitur that has been completed outside Finland does not give you points in the certificate-based admission. If you also have completed a Finnish Matriculation examination, or corresponding degree please add it to your application form to be able to be considered in the certificate-based admission. If you have graduated

Submit a copy of the four page document German degree certificate Zeugnis der Allgemeinen Hochschulreife online though the application form at the latest 24.1.2024 at 15.00. If you are graduating in the spring of applying

Submit a copy of the degree certificate page where the grades are shown, that has been issued in advance at the latest 3.4.2024 kl. 15.00. If you are admitted the admission is conditional. Read more about submitting officially certified copies if you are conditionally admitted here. 

If you have completed an education outside Finland and your degree gives you eligibility for higher education studies (corresponding Bachelor level) in the country of completion, you should upload your certificate through the application form before the given deadline. Upload the following certificates to your application: 

  • Scanned copy of your final degree certificate/leaving certificate. Including the full name of the school, contact information (address, e-mail and website)
  • If you are graduating in the spring 2024 of applying and still have not received your final degree certificate, upload a scanned version of your latest grade report/certificate. The certificate shall include the  official stamp and signature of a representative for the school/educational authority that issued your certificate. 
  • Note that if you are graduating during spring 2024 you need to submit your final degree certificate by the 11.7.2024 at 15.00 (Finnish time).

The attachments shall be uploaded at the latest 24.1.2024 at 3 pm (Finnish time).  

If you are admitted, your admission is conditional. You will receive more information about how to submit attachments if you are conditionally accepted in connection to receiving your admission offer. 

Please note that if you are accepted and have to submit officially certified copies of your documents in connection with accepting the study offer, you must also take into account that there are country-specific requirements that apply for degrees completed in certain countries. You may also be able to use electronic verification services to certify the documents.

If your educational documents are issued in a language other than English, Finnish or Swedish, official translations of them to one of these languages are required. 

An official translation must be one of the following:

  1. Issued by the awarding institution
  2. An officially certified copy of a translation issued by the awarding institution
  3. Translated by an official translator (original document)
  4. An officially certified copy of a translation made by an official translator

Each page of an official translation must bear the translator’s stamp and/or signature. Official translations must be exact translations of the original documents. Translations done by the applicant him- or herself are not accepted.

If you are a refugee or asylum seeker or have a refugee-like status in Finland and cannot prove your eligibility for higher education by documentation, you still apply for admission.

You are required to provide reliable explanation of the qualification that gives you eligibility to apply, additional information on the lack of requisite documentation as well as an official decision on your refugee status (decision on being granted asylum or a residence permit based on need for international protection or a certificate of a pending application for asylum). You must submit a copy ofh this decision to the Admission Services before the deadline for submitting application attachments has ended. You must also submit an application like all other applicants and prove that you fulfill the language requirement for admission and attend required tests. Hanken can also request the applicant to attend an entrance exam or similar. The university will determine the applicant’s eligibility based on the additional information provided by the applicant.
