Application period

The following programmes are included in the Rolling Admission round:

  • Humanitarian Logistics
  • International Strategy & Sustainability (except for the Double Degree option)
  • Marketing
  • Marketing & Management

Rolling admission means that:

  • the 60 first applicants, who fulfill all the admission criteria, will be offered admission.
  • The admission criteria are higher than in the main admission round to ensure that the students will be able to start studying at an advanced level.

Admission requirements overview


  1. BACHELOR'S DEGREE with the major subject Business Administration and/or Economics from a recognised university or a university of applied sciences located outside Finland. If the degree does not clearly state the degree's major subject to be Business Administration and/or Economics, then your BSc degree needs to include at least the equivalent of 80 ECTS of studies in Business Administration and/or Economics.
    • TOEFL IBT test or TOEFL iBT® Home Edition ≥ 92
    • IELTS (Academic) or IELTS Indicator (Academic) ≥ 6.5
    • Cambridge C1 Advanced ≥ Grade C
    • Cambridge C2 Proficiency ≥ Level C1
    • PTE Academic ≥ 62
    • The Finnish National Certificate of Language Proficiency YKI test in English ≥ Level 5 in all test sections
    • Bachelor's/Master's degree or secondary education conducted in English language in: Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, the United Kingdom or the United States (no other countries are accepted)
    • Group 1: Applicants applying based on a degree obtained in an EU/EEA country or a Hanken Partner University for Exchange
      • GPA grade B+ (U.S. grading scale) in the degree based on which they are applying
      • GMAT ≥ 600 or equivalent score in GRE
    • Group 2: Applicants applying based on a degree obtained in a country outside EU/EEA
      • GMAT ≥ 600 or equivalent score in GRE



Hanken can offer admission through rolling admission for a maximum of 60 students with the following subdivision:

  • 40 to Marketing and Management (Vaasa)
  • 2 to Humanitarian Logistics (Helsinki)
  • 9 to International Strategy and Sustainability (Helsinki)
  • 9 to Marketing (Helsinki)

Before applying

  • Read all of the information on this page and carefully and check that you fulfill the admission requirements.
    • Note! You can only apply to 2 Master's degree programmes for studies in English each admission round.
  • Book a time for a language test and the GMAT or GRE test if required.*
    • Note! Submit your application only AFTER you have completed and received scores for the required tests (language, GMAT/GRE).
    • If the applicant has not submitted a copy of a GMAT/GRE test result or a language test result with the application, the applicant's application will not be processed further.


Submit your application 

  • Complete the application as soon as possible after the application period has started and upload all required enclosures.
    • Please use an e-mail address which you have access to at least until next September.



Processing of applications

  • Remember to check your email (the address that you used in the application form), and also the spam folder regularly!
  • The Admission Services evalute your general eligiblity (degree from a recognised instiution, language requirement and GMAT/GRE test result or GPA and sufficient educational documents) and academic eligiblity (degree in Business Administration and/or Economics OR 80 ECTS in economic sciences) and request you to supplement your application if needed.


Recieving the admission results

  • If the applicant is eligible for admission, they should receive an e-mail within 21 days with a conditional offer of admission. 
  • Check your spam folder since your personal welcome package and possible scholarship offer might end up there.


Admitted students: submit officially certified copies of your educational documents

Admitted applicants are required to:

  • submit officially certified (attested) hard copies or digital official copies of the educational documents to the Admission Services as soon as possible but no later than 1 month after the admission results have been published.
    • If available, please use Electronic Transcripts Verification Services to deliver your transcript.
    • Note that there can be additional country-specific document requirements which can take a considerable amount of time to complete.
  • If you have not yet graduated at the time you receive your admission offer, the last date to deliver officially certified copies is the last workday (Monday-Friday) before or on 31 July the same year at 15:00 (GMT +2). 
  • If you are required to pay tutition fees, you need to follow the instructions sent to you concering the payment.

Applicants are conditionally admitted until the certified documents have been received (and the tuition fee payment if applicable). Conditionally granted study rights will be cancelled if the certified documents and possible tuition fee payments are not received in the required manner by the given deadline.

* Applicants who have attained their BSc from one of Hanken's partner universities do not need to take a GMAT/GRE test in case they have a GPA of at least B+ US scale/4 out of 5 on the Finnish scale.
