This year’s Anders Wall Scholarship has been awarded to Maxine Buchert, founder and CEO of Meridian, a marketing agency specialising in organic growth on social media. The scholarship, worth over 18,000 euros (200,000 SEK), was awarded by Charlotte Wall, chair of the Anders Wall Foundation, at a ceremony in Stockholm 10 March 2026.

Hanken School of Economics has received over 270 000 euros in EU-funding for a research project that aims to design guidelines and support actions for circular economy in the humanitarian sector.

The European Commission has announced that ENGAGE.EU is to receive a follow-up grant to the amount of € 14.4 million for further elaborating the collaboration among nine European universities. KvarkenSat is a joint small satellite between the Ostrobothnian provinces and Västerbotten. It is due to be launched into space in just over a year, with drawings by children and young people on board on the satellite. The small satellite is the result of cooperation across the Kvarken. It also demonstrates that the conquest of space is not just for space superpowers.

The universities in Finland will increase the number of study places in the student admissions in spring 2020. Within the economic sciences, some universities have already decided to increase the number of study places while others are currently making plans for additional admissions. In the economic sciences, an increase of about 200 new study places is planned. The increased admissions will require funding in the government’s next supplementary budget.

The Covid-19 pandemic has affected economics on all levels in society. In order to ensure a more resilient and flexible society in the future it’s important for countries not to isolate themselves, but rather to take global regulatory actions through international agreements and that applies as much to fighting pandemics and climate change, said Topi Miettinen, Professor at Hanken School of Economics, during an online event at Hanken.
