Information from the Board meeting 14 December 2017

The Hanken Board had its meeting on 14 December and decided on admissions quotas, budget and fundraising.

In its meeting on 14 December, the Hanken Board decided on the following items:

Admissions quotas for bachelor’s and master’s studies and revisions in the Degree Regulations

The Board confirmed the quotas for admissions in 2019 and 2020 to 300 for bachelor’s level studies and 160 for master’s level studies. The Board also revised the Degree Regulations to include a minimum of 5 credits language studies within master’s level studies.

Budget and resource allocation 2018

The Board approved of the resource allocation, budget and activity plan for 2018. The activity plan is based on the Short-term Action Plan for the years 2017-2020.

Continued fundraising activities and role of the Donation Committee

The Board discussed and confirmed the bases for continued fundraising activities for Hanken. The task and composition of the Donation Committee was re-defined to better meet the needs of future fundraising.

Discussion items and Rector’s overview

The Board discussed the plan for stewardship of donors following the Hanken Returns campaign. The Board also received an update of the status in the master’s programme admissions process.

I her overview, Rector informed the Board of the following:

  • Peter Sarlin has been appointed Professor of Practice
  • Hanken ranks 76th in the Financial Time Best European Business Schools ranking
  • Hanken has been appointed PRME Champion for the third time
  • Hanken does well in the national positioning statistics as regards research publications
  • The government’s matching amounts to 13,7 MEUR in the Hanken Returns campaign
