Hanken School of Economics has launched a new MOOC in English, a free online course about modern supply chains.

New research shows that that using advanced cross-prediction methods makes return forecasts more accurate for both stock and bond portfolios and helps improve portfolio design and risk management.

The President of the Republic of Finland, Alexander Stubb, has awarded three distinctions to people associated with Hanken School of Economics.

Students and tech enthusiasts gathered at Hanken from 9–11 October 2025 to take part in the Quantum x AI Hackathon. During the event, organised in collaboration with Ultrahack, participants developed tools that converged artificial intelligence, quantum computing, portfolio optimisation, and cybersecurity to shape the future of finance.

Professor Vlad Vaiman from the School of Management of California Lutheran University in the USA is visiting Hanken during autumn (Nov-Dec) and spring (March-April) as a Fulbright Distinguished Chair in Business and Economics. He will be working at the Department of Management and Organisation.

Hanken has signed new student exchange agreements with Esade Ramon Llull University in Barcelona, Spain and University of Aberdeen i Aberdeen, United Kingdom. You can apply for an exchange at these new partner universities for autumn semester 2025 as soon as the application round opens mid-december. Deadline for applications is 3 February 2025. Johanna Karanko and Nicola Lindertz are Hanken alumni who both became ambassadors. Karanko is currently stationed in Brazil while Lindertz serves in Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay. Among other things, they are working to promote the interests of Finnish companies and they have recognised many business opportunities in South America.

This year’s winners of the Sustainable Finance in the Quantum Era Hackathon arranged at Hanken School of Economics developed a quantum optimisation algorithm focused on the logistics industry. Their findings show improvements in both problem-solving efficiency and time reduction.

Hanken conducted a CO2 calculation development project of its 2023 carbon footprint and recalculated the base year 2018 emissions.

Posti Group is the most recent company to join Hanken's partner programme. The focus is on close collaboration with Hanken Business Lab, the university’s incubator. “We are looking for people who have the passion to build new, sustainable business ideas”, says Oskari Tinkanen from Posti.

Rector Karen Spens has today signed a contract stating that Hanken School of Economics will hereby become a shareholder of Funidata Oy, a university owned company who is currently developing the Sisu support tool system for university education.

According to the financial statement for 2013, approved by the Board of Hanken on 9 April 2014, Hanken's results fulfilled expectations with regard to both the budget and resource allocation.
