Research success and developments in education takes Hanken into its 106th year

Hanken's work towards raising the level of research and education, by means of internationalisation and tight collaboration with the business community lays a solid foundation for the upcoming academic year. Rector Eva Liljeblom described the recent success in research as well as efforts made in developing education and internationalisation, and gave an analysis of the current state of affairs and development needs, during her speech at the opening of the academic year on 1 September 2014 in Helsinki and 2 September 2014 in Vaasa.

In Helsinki, the president of the student union, Kennet Lundström, emphasised freedom from prejudice, innovativeness and internationalisation in the greeting from the student union. In addition, two installation speeches were held by Professor Anne Brunila on the topic Technology, economy and creative destruction, and by Professor Minna Martikainen with the topic Internal factors driving SME profitability.

The university medals in silver and bronze were also presented during the opening ceremonies.
