Three distinctions awarded by the President of the Republic
The following people have been awarded the distinctions:
Knight, First Class of the Order of the White Rose of Finland
Janne Tienari
Janne Tienari is an exceptionally productive researcher whose publications are widely cited. His particular field of interest is corporate strategy work. He has served as editor for several international academic journals and today holds an undisputed leading position internationally within his area of expertise. In addition to authoring well over 100 articles in international scientific journals, he has written several books aimed at the general public. He is a highly appreciated teacher and supervisor who has done significant work in supporting young researchers at the start of their careers. Tienari has also contributed to bringing research into Finnish companies by actively participating in the education of business leaders, for example within Hanken’s Executive MBA programme.

Karl Felixson
For nearly three decades, Karl Felixson has played a central role in the development of Hanken’s largest subject area: finance. The subject has remained popular over the years, and Hanken has educated many economic experts for both business and government in Finland. Felixson has been instrumental in building the prestige that the subject enjoys, thereby playing a decisive role in the training of experts for Finland’s financial sector. He is a much liked teacher with a strong commitment to pedagogical development. He is regarded as a demanding teacher with high expectations of his students and someone who teaches at a high international level. Beyond his engagement in undergraduate education, Felixson has been very active in development work at university level. He participates in working groups and has been appointed as a member of many decision-making bodies. In recent years, Felixson has also served as subject head for finance, carrying overall responsibility for the development of the discipline.

Kristina Wallin
Kristina Wallin has had a long career at Hanken, where she has long been an administrative cornerstone at the Vaasa campus. She bears significant responsibility for newly recruited staff in Vaasa, introducing them to everyday life at Hanken. Thanks to her knowledge of both education and administration, she has played an important role in the development of Hanken’s facilities, ensuring that the premises are now modern and fit for purpose. Wallin has a particular interest in security issues, and she has developed robust routines for safety at the Vaasa campus, for which she also carries overall responsibility. Kristina has actively contributed to development and administration at university level through membership in various committees and working groups, as well as serving as secretary of Hanken’s cooperation committee. She is meticulous, well-organised, dedicated, and always works for the best of Hanken.
