Vlad Vaiman joins Hanken as visiting Fulbright professor
Professor Vaiman has published numerous books and articles on talent management and international HRM. His work has appeared in notable outlets including Academy of Management Learning and Education, Human Resource Management, and Journal of World Business, among others. He is also the founder and a leading chair of the EIASM Workshop on Talent Management, as well as the editor of the Emerald Book Series on Talent Management.
Professor Vaiman’s research focuses on the strategic and global dimensions of talent management. He is particularly interested in how organisations attract, develop, and retain talent in today’s world shaped by AI, deglobalisation, and shifting institutional contexts.
“I examine both micro- and macro-level dynamics, exploring the interaction between individual talent experiences and broader national or organisational systems. Much of my recent work looks at country-level talent management, expatriate talent flows, and the evolving relationship between human and technological agency in global work environments,” says Professor Vaiman.
Ultimately, Professor Vaiman’s research is all about helping organisations build talent systems that make them more competitive, inclusive, and ready to adapt in a fast-changing world shaped by emerging technologies.
“During my stay at Hanken, I will collaborate closely with Hanken faculty to explore how Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) is reshaping the modern workplace. Together, we aim to understand how GenAI influences collaboration, decision-making, and employee well-being, and how organizations can harness these tools in ways that enhance rather than replace human talent,” says Professor Vaiman.
Through this partnership he hopes to contribute to both scholarly understanding and practical strategies that help Finnish companies – and organisations more broadly – build more human-centered, future-ready workplaces.
