The basic problems of service management are the same globally

What is a service? Or what does service do for the customers?

Christian Tor Vergata

These were some of the questions Professor Emeritus Christian Grönroos answered in the University of Rome’s “Tor Vergata”, a doctoral seminar organized for italian doctoral students of engineering and business, last month. Also some company guests were invited to discuss about what it takes to become a service business.

“The primary questions about service business and service management seem to be quite similar in every culture”, says Professor Grönroos. “No matter the company’s size eller business field, the basic problems and solutions in service management are the same. When taking the next step and implementing the solutions, then one have to take into account cultural differences and, for example, differences in industry and company size”, he says.
