Denis Davydov is a tenure track Assistant Professor of Finance. Before joining Hanken in 2022, he held a tenured position in Accounting and Finance at the University of Vaasa, where he currently holds the title of Docent in Finance and Banking. He has also worked as a visiting researcher at the Bank of Finland (Institute for Emerging Economies) and has held visiting positions at the University of Manchester (UK), University of Strasbourg (France), and Stockholm University (Sweden). Denis has also held visiting researcher appointments at Auburn University (AL, US), Clemson University (SC, US), and Florida Atlantic University (FL, US).
Denis specializes in financial institutions and markets, focusing on areas such as financial intermediation, corporate financial decision-making, and the performance and behavior of banks. His recent research also explores topics like public confidence in banks, financial stability, the behavior of individual investors, and economic sanctions. His work has been published in the Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of Financial Stability, European Financial Management, Financial Review, Journal of International Financial Markets, Institutions and Money, among other peer-reviewed journals. Denis also co-organizes the Annual Vaasa Banking Research Workshop, an international event dedicated to current research in various aspects of banking and financial intermediation.
Denis is an experienced teacher and supervisor. He has supervised theses and given lectures at Stockholm Business School (SBS), EM Strasbourg Business School (EM SBS), and the Higher School of Economics (HSE). He also leads a series of lectures on Digital Banking and Bank Management at the University of Oulu and the University of Vaasa.
