The Hanken International Advisory Board (IAB) aims to provide strategic advice and perspectives for the development of the School in accordance with international standards and development trends of accredited business schools. Rector has appointed new members in IAB as of 1.11.2021.

The nationwide recommendation for remote work has ended and many workplaces have switched to combining remote work and office work in new ways. Different hybrid models will require more planning by both managers and employees and in some cases also redesigning of the office spaces.

Research funding is increasingly granted to large, multidisciplinary consortia in which researchers from several universities, but also other societal actors participate. Researchers at Hanken have actively applied for funding for such projects, and in the spring of 2021, a record number of researchers at the university received highly welcomed news from the funders.

During the spring, a course in cultural sustainability and communications was organized for the first time at Hanken. The course was a response to the students' interest in courses in the humanities.

Hanken receives top results from exchange students who studied in Helsinki during the spring. This is the case even though all courses were arranged online.

The Finnish Innovation Index (FII), developed jointly with the Norwegian School of Economics, offers Finnish consumers the opportunity, for the first time, to evaluate the innovativeness of companies selling services and products. The results of the survey were published on a webinar broadcasted from Hanken the 17 June. The event will be annual.

In 2017, The Finnish Education Evaluation Centre conducted an audit of Hanken’s quality system and awarded it a quality label that is valid for six years. In February, Hanken signed up for the next national evaluation taking place in 2023.

The new book edited by Mikko Vesa from Hanken lightens up the connections between gamification and the field of management and organization.

Consumers' choices will have a strong impact on the future development in society. It is, however, still too early to say which of the changes in behavior caused by the corona pandemic will persist. This was stated by the panelists in the discussion "Sustainable Strategies in Turbulent Times - Key Factors for Renewal", which was broadcasted online from Hanken on 11 November.

In its meeting on 5 April, the Academic Council (AC) approved of 9 master’s theses. AC noted that the theses tend to build up towards the last meetings of the semester.
