Tasks of the Data Protection Office

Advice and training

The Data Protection Officer provides advice and support to the Steering Group for Data Protection and the management team of Hanken. The Officer also supports employees and students in understanding and complying with data protection legislation, including the GDPR. The tasks also include training and informing about rights and obligations when processing personal data.

Monitoring and review

The Data Protection Officer is responsible for monitoring and reviewing Hanken’s data protection practices. This includes regular risk assessments and checks to ensure compliance with the regulations.

Contact point for data subjects

The Data Protection Officer acts as a contact point for students, employees and other persons who have questions about the processing of their personal data.

Incident management

The Data Protection Officer handles and reports personal data incidents, including data breaches, to both supervisory authorities and interested parties in accordance with applicable legislation.

Cooperation with supervisory authorities

The Data Protection Officer is the contact person for the Office of the Data Protection Ombudsman and assists with investigations and inquiries as needed.

Internal communication

The representative communicates data protection-related information within Hanken. This includes ensuring that employees are aware of their responsibilities and that data protection regulations are followed. Any shortcomings are reported to the responsible authorities.
