Hanken continues as a PRME Champion
Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME) is a United Nations-supported initiative founded in 2007 to raise the profile of sustainability in schools around the world, and to equip today's business students with the understanding and ability to deliver change tomorrow.
Hanken was the first university in Finland to sign PRME in April 2008, and it became a member of the PRME Champions group for the first time in 2013.
On January 23, at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, the PRME Secretariat officially announced the 38 institutions selected from amongst 650 signatories worldwide for the PRME Champions Cycle 2018-19. Hanken’s closest PRME partners, whether from the CR3+ network (Audencia, ISAE and La Trobe) or from the PRME Chapter Nordic (CBS and SSE), will all be PRME champions this cycle providing an extended opportunity for collaboration at the Champions level. The PRME Champions group is dedicated to undertaking advanced tasks and game changing projects that respond to systemic challenges faced by the PRME community. These include key issues and areas identified by the United Nations and the UN Global Compact, specifically the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as part of Sustainable Development Agenda 2030.
“Hanken's continuous engagement on the Champions level, as well as with the wider PRME community, is greatly appreciated and we at the PRME Secretariat are very excited to have Hanken on board for the next two-year cycle”, says Jonas Haertle, Head of PRME, UN Global Compact Office.
Supported and driven by Strategy 2025, Hanken continuously strives to incorporate values of sustainability and social responsibility within all the spheres of its impact. Hanken commits to actively engage in the PRME Champions’ flagship project, “Mainstreaming the SDGs in PRME Institutions”. At the institutional level, Hanken pledges to undertake transformative actions towards the integration of the Sustainable Development Goals within its curriculum, research and partnerships in coming years, building on its foundational work done during the previous champions cycle. More details on our past work can be found in the PRME Report 2015-16.
