Orientation Days Programme in Helsinki for new MSc students

FOR ALL STUDENTS

FOR STUDENTS WHO HAVE COMPLETED THEIR SCHOOL EDUCATION IN FINLAND IN SWEDISH OR FINNISH

What to bring:

• Required only of students who delivered PHYSICAL officially certified copies of their educational documents upon admission:
  • Degree certificate in ORIGINAL
  • Transcript of records in ORIGINAL
  • Possible official translations of the documents listed above if not in Swedish, Finnish or English
  • The documents will be collected for verification purposes and returned on Thursday
    • The students this applies to will receive an e-mail during August requesting them to bring their educational documents.
    • Note! Students whose educational documents already have been verified through an accepted Electronic Transcript verification Service are extempted from bringing their documents.
  • If you completed your school education in Swedish or Finnish in Finland and are unsure what requirements apply to you concering the requirement of language proficiency in Swedish and Finnish of Personnel in Public bodies within your degree, the study councellors can personally check your educational documents during registraton. If you wish to receive this service, please bring:
    • your complete higher education educational documents in digital form e.g pdf (NOT only as OmaOpintopolku link!) - degree certificate, transcript and Diploma Supplement (if available)
• Official ID
• Hanken User ID (if you have collected it)
• Your own laptop
• Your own water bottle

Registration

• Hand in of educational documents in original (if you have been requested to do so via e-mail)
• Obtain Hanken User ID (if you have not obtained them yet)
• Study counsellors check previous degree certificates & transcripts for students who completed their school education in Finland in Swedish or Finnish (if needed)
• HSL Public transport student forms (for students new to Finland)

What to bring:

• Offical ID, if you handed in your original educational documents on Wednesday in order to be able to collect the documents
• Your own laptop if you are taking the Swedish language level test
• Your own water bottle

Finland in a Nutshell

This session is useful if you are new to Finland and Finnish society. We will cover what it means to move to, live in, and settle in Finland, including insights into Finnish society, culture, local languages, and how to navigate everyday life.

You'll get practical tools for balancing efficiency and self-compassion – because thriving beats surviving.

Library Workshops - highly recommended

The sessions offered by the Library are designed to help you excel in your studies at Hanken. Even though you have studied elsewhere, these sessions are recommended by the academic staff to help you learn the methods and the academic culture at Hanken.

The workshops are held through Teams and are open for everyone at Hanken.

International Opportunities - voluntary

• 14.9.2026 at 9.00-9.20 International Opportunities. If you wish to go on exchange, complete an international internship or explore international opportunities within the Engage.eu European alliance (online courses at other universities within the alliance, summer schools etc.) this session may be of interest to you.
