The investments support Hanken as a stand-alone business school with strong Nordic roots, that offer high-quality degree programmes in Swedish and English. Below you can read more about our principles for ethical and transparent fundraising.

General principles for donations

Hanken School of Economics is a research-driven business school that fosters responsible professionals to drive a sustainable future.

Being a stand-alone business school with strong Nordic roots, we offer high-quality degree programmes in Swedish and English.

A donation to Hanken means a financial support, that does not require any action in return. Donations play an important role in strengthening Hanken's core activities and supporting Hanken as a stand-alone, Swedish-speaking and international business school. Donors can be, for example, Finnish or foreign private individuals, foundations, companies, organisations, public actors and testamentary donors.

Ethical principles for donations

Hanken's fundraising is based on openness, integrity and respect for the donors will.

When accepting donations, the following principles are taken into account:

  • The donation and its conditions should be consistent with Hanken's values, mission, strategy and code of conduct.
  • Hanken must know the donor's background and the origin of the donation. All information is treated confidentially and securely.
  • The donation and its conditions must not contradict Hanken's Code of Conduct.
  • The donation and its conditions must not impose unreasonable costs, obligations or liabilities on Hanken.
  • Acceptance of the donation and its terms must not jeopardise the reputation of Hanken or other donors.
  • Hanken respects the wishes of donors within the framework of its values and strategic goals.
  • Hanken endeavours to conduct fundraising in an ethically sustainable and transparent manner.

When making a donation, a deed of gift is signed, setting out the terms, purpose and amount of the donation. Smaller donations can be made without a deed of gift.
