Students laible for tuition fees must pay their tuition fee for the consequent year of study before they can register as attending. Students who wish to enrol as absent should not pay the tuition fee (note that first year students cannot register as absent without a  legal reasons).

The deadline for completion of the tuition fee payment annually:

First year students: 15th June
Students admitted from from the waiting list: 1st August
Continuing students:  1st August
(full academic year or Autumn term only)
  30 November
(Spring semester only)
  • Continuing students: you can also opt to complete the payment by the deadline set for 1st year students if they e.g. need to register as present earlier to be able to renew their housing contract or residence permit.
    • Note, if you are renewing your residence permit which exempt from tuition fees during the spring/summer the Finnish Immigration Services normally require you to be registered as present for the upcoming academic year in order to renew your permit.

  • Students can always opt to register as absent. If they neither register as present nor as absent within the set registration period, they have neglected the annual registration and will lose their right to study at Hanken. Students however have the right to apply for re-matriculation if they pay the tuition fees and an additional re-matriculation processing fee.

  • The payments are completed through regular bank transfer.
  • Please notice that international transfers can take up to 30 days to be completed so complete the payment well in advance before the payment deadline.
  • Only pay the part of the tuition fee which your scholarship does not cover (e.g. Hanken Waiver Scholarship for Bachelor students cover 25 % of the tuition fee - pay 75 % of the full tuition fee,i.e. 9000 EUR).
  • Only once the payment is done AND Hanken has confirmed the payment to you, you will be able to enrol as present for upcoming semester or academic year by paying the Student Union fee. Students liable for tuition fees cannot register as present before the tuition fee has been paid and registered in Sisu.
  • NOTE! By paying the tuition fee, you accept the conditions set in the Hanken return policy for tuition fees.
  • First year students must pay the full tuition fee for the whole academic year at once since they must be registered as present during the whole first acacemic year according to the Universities Act. The only exeptions is students who have legal reasons to register as absent - the recommendation is then to register as absent for the whole first academic year since the course offering is structured to have the studies start in the Autumn.
  • Continuing students can choose if they wish to pay the tuition fee for one academic semester or for the whole academic year at once. If you pay the tuition fee for e.g. only the Autumn term, you can only register as attending for the Autumn term and non-attending for the spring term.
  • The payments will only be checked after the payment deadline has passed:
    • 16 June at the earliest for the 15 June deadline
    • 2 August at the earliest for the 1st August deadline
    • 1 December at the earliest for 30 November deadline

  • New students who still have other conditions to meet for the admission offer (such as delivering officially/digitally certified copies of your final educational document if you had not graduated at the time of applying) will not be requested to register as present before all conditions set for the admission offer have been met.
