Supervision
An important part of pursuing a PhD is receiving support and guidance along the way. At Hanken, you will receive personal and individually tailored supervision from experienced researchers who are internationally active and at the forefront of their fields. You can contact a degree supervisor in your major subject even before applying to the doctoral programme to discuss your plans and get information about the research focus and studies within the subject.
Doctoral thesis
As a doctoral researcher, you will write a doctoral thesis, which you will defend in a public examination. The doctoral thesis is an independent research project that demonstrates your ability to conduct research of scientific value and contribute new knowledge within your field. At Hanken, you can choose to write your thesis either as a monograph or as a compilation thesis, consisting of several scientific articles.

PhD career prospects
PhD graduates from Hanken hold top positions both within and outside academia, in Finland and the Nordic countries as well as globally. About two-thirds choose an academic career, but many alumni have also been highly successful in business, finance, the public sector, and as entrepreneurs.
