The Swedish Cultural Foundation donates 1 000 000 euro to Hanken and the ongoing fundraising campaign HANKEN RETURNS.

The Swedish Cultural Foundation donates 1 000 000 euro to Hanken and the ongoing fundraising campaign HANKEN RETURNS. The donation is the largest endowment so far to the campaign. HANKEN RETURNS has now received donations exceeding 2.5 million euro. The donation was officially handed over to Rector Eva Liljeblom by the Director of the Swedish Cultural Foundation Leif Jakobsson and Education Officer Veronica Granö-Suomalainen at a ceremony on 25 May 2015.

- Without a comprehensive educational networking system we have no future, and Hanken is an important part of this network when it comes to educating business graduates with knowledge in Swedish. Hanken’s collaboration with other universities is integral and we hope that these collaborations will gain the creative industries that will bear the economy of tomorrow, said Leif Jakobsson.

Hanken’s Rector Eva Liljeblom was very pleased to receive the largest single donation to the campaign so far.

- This donation is a sign of faith in Hanken’s ability to educate business graduates with the competence to work in both traditional and new, more creative industries, says Liljeblom.

The mission of the Swedish Cultural Foundation is to support and strengthen the culture and education of the Swedish-speaking minority in Finland. The Swedish Cultural Foundation was established in 1908 and has around 480 individual funds that together form the foundation. Annually the foundation contributes around 33 million euro of funding and about 8 000 applications are received every year.

The fundraising campaign HANKEN RETURNS will continue until 30 June 2017. The aim of the campaign is to strengthen Hanken’s position as the only independent business school in Finland.
