On 26 February 2026, four new professors at Hanken School of Economics held their inaugural lectures: Mika Gabrielsson (marketing), Olli-Pekka Kauppila (management and organisation), Mrinalini Kochupillai (commercial law), and Othmar Lehner (accounting).

Hanken alum Yesmith Sánchez started working for the DEI consultancy company Inklusiiv four years ago when diversity, equity, and inclusion issues were not spoken of broadly in Finland. Since then, Sánchez has been very busy helping a lot of organisations build more diverse, inclusive and equitable workplaces.

The Finnish Bachelor's Graduate Survey is a national survey that collects feedback from new bachelor’s graduates about their bachelor's studies. The results are compared to the national average and this year Hanken scored the best points ever.

Hanken School of Economics has received 300,000 euros from Dr. h.c. Marcus Wallenberg’s Foundation for Research in Business Administration to find out what the challenges and benefits of Finnish so called green entrepreneurial acquisitions are.

What will happen to the business relations between Finland and Sweden now that both countries are members of NATO? Companies in regions where climate change denial is widespread among the people are often the most reluctant to tackle climate issues. These companies impose more costs on society and are more likely to commit federal violations related to environmental issues, according to a study conducted by researchers at Hanken School of Economics and the University of Vaasa.

The Humanitarian Logistics and Supply Chain Research Institute (HUMLOG) is working with the most pressing issues in our world: from the COVID-19 pandemic to the war in Ukraine and the enormous challenges presented by climate change. This week the Institute celebrated its 15th anniversary.

At the beginning of the year, a new funding act determining the state's research and development funding in 2024–2030 entered into force. In practice, the implementation of the Act means that the central government budgeted approximately EUR 260 million more for RDI activities each year in 2024-2030.

Hanken student Henrik Helenius has been awarded the Anders Wall scholarship of approximately 20,000 euros for having excelled in entrepreneurship and creative thinking. Accenture, one of the world’s largest consultancies, is the latest member to join the Hanken partner programme.

Hanken School of Economics annually appoints the Alumni of the Year, a Hanken Alumnus/Alumna who has been topical in the past year and has received acknowledgement for their engagement in society. The Alumnus/Alumna has also kept contact with Hanken and shown an interest in the development of Hanken after their graduation. This year, Hanken appointed Heidi Schauman as the Alumna of the Year.

In collaboration with Novia University of Applied Sciences and Vaasa University of Applied Sciences (VAMK), Hanken is currently calling for expressions of interest in developing hydrogen infrastructure in the Ostrobothnia region, as part of the H2 Ecosystem Roadmap. New research shows that a service-providing organisation facilitates the well-being of individuals by supporting, socialising, and empowering them. Technology, service environment and design, and internal practices and arrangements also contribute to the individuals’ well-being.

The results of the survey were published on a webinar broadcasted from Hanken the 17 June. The event will be annual.
