SHS and SSHV have appointed the Lecturer of the Year and Teacher of the Year 2025
The students motivated choosing Sundvik by highlighting that he is an inspiring and motivating lecturer who makes the lectures engaging, helping students maintain their focus. They think that he explains things clearly and provides good examples. Sundvik has succeeded in creating a strong connection with his students, who feel that he genuinely cares about them.
“Thank you very much for this award! It is incredibly motivating. I’m happy that an accounting lecturer is receiving the prize, since many still associate the subject mainly with debits and credits. I try to keep the atmosphere lively in my lectures, for instance by always including a T-account called the ‘coffee account’, while still ensuring that the teaching remains interesting, diverse, and practically relevant,” Sundvik said in his speech at the ceremony.
The student association in Vaasa, SSHV, announced its Teacher of the Year during its annual celebration on 28 November 2025. The title was awarded to Professor Peter Björk, who teaches marketing, and was surprised by the honour.
“This was unexpected – I’ve only been doing my job! But I am both touched and happy about the recognition. Receiving an acknowledgement like this from students who appreciate you as a lecturer means a great deal. At the same time, it does put a bit of pressure on you to keep delivering,” Björk commented.
The students describe him as personal and inspiring, and particularly praise his ability to communicate and spark engagement in the classroom. His effort to bring in relevant guest lecturers and organise study visits is highly appreciated and helps deepen students’ understanding of the course content.
Hanken warmly congratulates the recipients on their awards!
