The basic idea of the Hanken partner programme is to collaborate with the business community, focusing on Hanken students – a concept that also appeals to Nordea.

"We want to know what students need to develop, how we as a company can support them alongside their studies," says Victor Brück, an expert on diversity, inclusion and employer branding at Nordea.

Brück looks forward to a cooperation of mutual benefit to both parties.

"The students, with their fresh perspectives and new skills, are important to us as a company. With the partner programme, we are hoping to learn from each other, for instance through different workshops or real-life case studies where we could work with the students to solve various problems. Our experts are also happy to visit Hanken to hold lectures on current topics or talk about their career paths," says Brück.

Nordea has approximately 28,000 employees in 20 countries. Over 50 different languages are spoken within the Group, and the Group has an even distribution of women and men. Sustainability and equality are important values for the company, which has almost 11 million customers.

"We also emphasize diversity in our recruitments, and encourage people to apply for jobs at Nordea just as they are. We want people with different backgrounds, life experience and personalities. Skills needed to build the bank of the future can be related to, for example, technology, omnichannel customer experience, data analytics, risks and security.”

With the partner programme, Nordea wishes to highlight the career opportunities students have within the company.

"For instance, we have a two-year programme for Master graduates where they get to do internal rotations with clear learning objectives and have access to mentors.”

Brück believes that the most important characteristic that students who want to start working at Nordea need to have, is the desire to learn and develop.

"It is good if you are curious – and great teamwork and communication skills are invaluable.
