The new rector of the Hanken School of Economics, Ingmar Björkman, wants to engage the community in decision-making processes. He wishes to see more international students at Hanken, and has nothing against people complaining. Engagement and openness (to the outside and internal transparency) are his guiding principles.

Hanken's staff is warmly welcomed to the Opening of the Academic Year, which will be held in Helsinki on 1 September 2022 at 13 and in Vaasa on 2 September 2022 at 13. Instead of the announced kick-off in Helsinki on 19 August 2022, a dinner will be held in the evening after the academic ceremony. In Vaasa the dinner will be held on 13 September 2022.

The results from the joint entrance exam in economic sciences, held in June, have now been published for Hanken’s Bachelor degree programme in Helsinki and Vaasa.

The fundraising campaign Count on Hanken at Hanken School of Economics ended 30 June 2022. The campaign got support from a total of 691 private persons, organisations and foundations who together donated 6,6 million euro to Hanken. The raised funds will be matched by the government and strengthens Hanken’s basic capital.

Disinformation on social media is more than facts versus falsehoods or fake news. A new study at Hanken School of Economics shows that spreading disinformation is also an engagement program that encourages consumers to take sides in a culture war.

The Swedish foundation Marianne and Marcus Wallenbergs Foundation donates SEK 10 million to Hanken. One-fifth of the donation is included in the Cound on Hanken campaign and is thus included in the government matching.

A new study conducted at Hanken School of Economics lists the most innovative companies according to Finnish consumers. The Finnish Innovation Index (FII) is a national measure of perceived innovativeness of companies among Finnish customers who have during the last six months purchased or used the products of the included companies.

Guy Ahonen was Professor Emeritus at both Hanken and the Finnish Institute of Occupational Health. His area of expertise was human resource accounting and knowledge management. Ahonen is best known for studying the economic effects of occupational health. He also launched the concept of human resource accounts in Finland.
