Two specialisations

You can choose between two specialisations: Humanitarian logistics and Sustainable supply chain management.

Humanitarian logistics

Led by researchers from the world-renowned HUMLOG Institute, this specialisation equips you to manage supply chains in crisis situations, ensuring you are ready to take on a role in disaster relief and emergency management

As part of the master’s in Supply Chain Management, the Humanitarian Logistics specialisation offers a transformative educational experience, combining academic rigor with practical problem-solving in one of today’s most critical fields. This interdisciplinary specialisation will equip you with the skills to apply logistics and supply chain management to the crisis and humanitarian context, teaching you how to design, manage and optimise supply chains at both strategic and operational level. You will learn how to tackle global challenges such as natural disasters, pandemics, and conflicts, making a direct impact on preparedness, crisis response and recovery efforts.

The HUMLOG Institute is a globally leading centre of humanitarian logistics research with and for humanitarian organisations. You will be accompanied by experts on cash transfer programmes, agility, risks and resilience, logistics services in humanitarian operations, modularity, temporary settlements, and competence-based strategic management, logistics in conflict areas, commercial-humanitarian interactions, resilient transport systems, and security. Additionally, you will explore, among others, risks and resilience, supply chain disruptions, emergency relief logistics, disaster preparedness, and medical humanitarian supply chains. The skillset will prepare you to cooperate with organisations, both governmental and non-governmental, anywhere in the world.

Sustainable supply chain management

This specialisation prepares you to take the lead in shaping a sustainable future, by giving you the tools and knowledge needed to build and manage environmentally sustainable and socially responsible, resilient supply chains.

As part of the master’s in Supply Chain Management, you can specialise in sustainable supply chain management. This specialisation seeks to educate future supply chain leaders that can address the most pressing challenges of our time, by being able to successfully navigate a dynamic business landscape, with changing economic, environmental and social requirements.  This unique programme emphasises the integration of corporate social responsibility with supply chain management, preparing you to design and manage high performing supply chains that prioritise ethical, environmental, and social considerations.

Through case studies, practical assignments, and collaborations with companies at the forefront of corporate social responsibility, you will gain a global perspective on critical issues such as resource scarcity, biodiversity loss, environmental sustainability, sustainable strategies, and supply chain transparency.

The 2024 programmes in Humanitarian Logistics and Supply Chain Management & Social Responsibility (Swe) have been merged into one program. As of 2025 we are not accepting any new students in the 2024 programmes.
