Timetable for graduation

On this page you will find the timetable for the graduation process.

In the timetable below, you can see by when you need to submit your Master's thesis in order to graduate on a certain graduation date. You should apply for the degree certificate at least three weeks prior to the graduation date. The graduation dates are the same for master's and doctoral degrees. Please note that the deadlines for submitting your master's thesis and applying for the degree certificate online are absolute and you are not allowed to differ from these dates. Your thesis supervisor does not have the power to alter these deadlines. If your thesis is submitted later than the deadline then your thesis will not be handled nor discussed until the next upcoming Education Council's meeting. Please read the information below the timetable about the graduation ceremonies.

**Information about the official graduation date 31 July 2022
In order to graduate during the academic year 2021-2022, you need to submit your Master’s thesis and apply for the degree certificate before 31 July. Your official graduation date will be 31 July, but you’ll receive your degree certificate 22 September 2022 (NB! the dates are preliminary and may be subject to change).

It’s possible to receive a preliminary degree certificate only in certain cases before 22 September. Example of approved reasons are if you’ve been conditionally accepted to a University program starting autumn 2021 or you’re a Hanken scholarship student that requires you to hand in a preliminary degree certificate 31 July or 31 August. Be ready to verify your situation with documents. NB! If you hand in your master's thesis between 1 May and 31 July, the soonest you may receive a preliminary degree certificate is after the Education Council has approved the thesis, either in late August or beginning of September. If you need a preliminary degree certificate we kindly ask you to well in advance contact the study counselling (studycounsellor-hki@hanken.fi).
