How to apply - step-by-step

Here you find the application process described step-by-step.

1. Familiarize yourself with the requirements and instructions

  • Read all of the information on the admission page and all subpages carefully and check that you fulfill the admission requirements.
     
    • You can apply to a maximum of 2 MSc programmes at Hanken (and 6 application options in total nationally since it is a joint form). 
    • Read more about the joint application in Finland.
       
  • Book a time for a language test and/or the GMAT or GRE test if required as early as possible so you have the test result when the application period starts - Hanken accepts results all year long.*
     
  • Start collecting the required enclosures in time and to complete your CV in English.

2. Submit your application 

  • Complete the application in the national application portal Studyinfo.fi as early as possible after the application period has started  and upload all required enclosures. Application is open 3.1-17.1.2024 at 15:00 (GMT+2).
     
    • Please use a personal e-mail address which you can access on a permanent basis.
    • The application form is designed in English - make sure that your Opintopolku/Studyinfo page is in English as well before you start to fill out the form.

    • The application form cannot be saved as a draft so collect all your enlosures and prepare your CV (in English) before you start to fill in the form.

      • Once you have submitted the form, you will not be able to change your answers, except for your contact details.

      • Upload your enclosures in high quality pdf format (Finnish degrees: alternatively your MyStudyinfo link)

        • Upload all your enclosures no later than 24.1.2024 at 15:00 (GMT+2), but preferably already at the beginning of the application period to speed up the processing of your application.

      • NOTE! if you do not attach all required application enclosures, your application will not be processed further.

 

3. Processing of applications

  • Remember to check your email (the address that you used in the application form), and also the spam folder regularly!
     
  • The Admission Services evalute your general eligiblity (degree from a recognised institution, language requirement and GMAT/GRE test result or GPA and sufficient educational documents) and can request you to supplement your application.
     
  •  Applications which fulfill the general admission requirements are forwarded for academic assessment at the programmes which you applied to. Based on the proposal from the staff at the programmes, the rector, who makes the final admission decision.
     
  • NOTE! There is a set quota of admission offers for all MSc programmes. Fulfilling the admission requirements does not automatically mean that you will be offered admission.

 

4. Recieving the admission results

  • The admission results will be published in April 2024.
  • You will be informed by e-mail simoultanously about the admission results and possible scholarship - check your spam folder often since your admission offer and possible scholarship offer offer might end up there.
  • If you fulfill all requirements but you are not offered admission immediately, you are placed on a waiting list.

 

5. Accepting the admission offer

  • Accept the admission offer as soon as possible, however no later than 11.7.2024 at 15:00 (GMT +3). 
  • All admitted students receive information on how to accept the admission offer with the admission offer.
     
  • NOTE! If you receive a admission offer which you do not intend to accept, you must actively decline the offer immediately in Studyinfo so that the spot timely can be offered to another applicant from the waiting list. The waiting list closes when all spots have been filled or the latest on 31 July 2024 at 15:00 (GMT+3).

Deadlines for completion of requirements

  • Officially certified educational documents of applicants admitted immediately when the results are published in Spring 2024: 23 May 2024 at 15:00 (GMT +3).
  • Officially certified educational documents for applicants admitted off the waiting list or if you applied with an incomplete degree: last workday (Monday-Friday) before or on 31 July that same year at 15:00 (GMT +3). Note! The graduation date stated on the documents must be no later than 31 July 2024.
  • If you are admitted after 11 July 2024, your deadline will be 15 of August 2024 15:00 (GMT +3).
  • If you are required to pay tutition fees Opens in new window , you need to follow the instructions sent to you concering the payment.

Applicants are conditionally admitted until the certified documents have been received (and the tuition fee payment, if applicable). Conditionally granted study rights will be cancelled if the certified documents and possible tuition fee payments are not received in the required manner by the given deadline.

The deadlines are the same to all applicants and cannot be extended.

 

6. Register for the academic year

  • Once your admission is final, you must register for the academic year at the latest 31.7.2024.
  • First year students must register as present, except if you have legal grounds to register as absent. When registering as present you must also complete the Student Union membership fee payment.
  • Registration for attendance can be done through the My Studyinfo-service portal/personal link once the admission offer is final. 

 

* Applicants who have attained the degree based on which they are applying from one of Hanken's partner universities do not need to take a GMAT/GRE test in case they have a GPA of at least B US scale/3.0 out of 5 on the Finnish scale.
