International students recommend Hanken in global survey

The international students at Hanken have the highest propensity to recommend their university – 94,3% would recommend Hanken according to the International Student Barometer (ISB).

Along with 129 universities from 17 countries across the world, Hanken took part in ISB during autumn 2017. ISB is a survey directed to international students at higher education institutions globally and the results were published in March 2018.

45% (145 students) of Hanken's international students answered the questionnaire. The students are satisfied with the overall experience at Hanken and report that they feel engaged with their studies. Teaching, course content, learning support, and the quality of the lectures and lecturers places Hanken clearly above the mean. The teachers’ English language was especially commended. Many support functions and the student union also score highly in the survey. Research is another area where Hanken is strong according to the international students enrolled.

- We are pleased with the fact that our international students are enjoying their studies at Hanken. With 95% reporting that they feel engaged with their studies and 94% being happy with their life at Hanken, shows that we are on the right path, says rector Karen Spens.

Hanken participated in the same survey also in 2014 and the School has seen significant improvement in the virtual learning, social facilities and formal welcome. The Student Union SHS and their Clubs/socities have also scored a lot higher than in 2014.

-The Student Union has focused on integrating the international students at Hanken. We do our best to provide interesting hobbies and spare time activities through committees and clubs, comments Henna Konsti, President of the Student Union.

Despite the good results in several areas, there are also a number of areas to be improved. The international students would hope for more diversity in group formations in class and more career guidance provided by faculty.
