Local economy vs state economony and best practices from the West on the 10th Hankendagen agenda

Hanken's largest alumni event, Hankendagen, this year attracts some 100 alumni to Hanken's campus in Vaasa. During the seminar both speakers andparticipants will look West in order to hear about, discuss, and learn from Sweden's experiences, together with experts from both Hanken and business life.

During the morning session, Jonas Jonsson, the mayor of Uumaja, will hold a presentation on how local efforts can create global competitiveness. After his key note the participants will discuss crowdfunding as a source for funding together with Cathrine Åsklint from FundedByMe, as well as the lack of Finnish SMEs on the so called First North list. The latter topic will be discussed by Lauri Rosendahl från Nasdaq OMX, among others.

In the afternoon, another two interesting workshops stand on the agenda. In one of them Kim Saxberg from Mediaedge:cia discusses branding in and for Sweden together with Hanken faculty. In the other pros and cons with own vs joint currency is discussed with for example Johnny Åkerholm.

The seminar day will end with a presentation from Defence Minister Carl Haglund who will discuss if the government can turn the real economy.

Hankendagen in Vaasa will be arranged for Hanken alumni on 3 October 2014.
