Hanken was awarded the “HR Excellence in Research” logo by the European Commission in spring 2015. An internal review for renewal assessment was carried out in the view of our strategy in 2021 and submitted in January 2022. Hanken submitted a revised HRS4R Strategy and Action Plan for renewal to the European Commission in May 2023. The external renewal assessment including a site visit was approved in June 2024.

At CERS, there are constantly visiting researchers working in our premises and collaborating with members of our research center. Learning from each other at its best!

The Corona-virus outbreak is continuing to spread. By beginning of February, the number of infected people surpasses 42,000 infections, and the death toll continues to rise. As authorities and responders are struggling to contain the spread, news about mass quarantine camps or shortages of personal protective equipment threaten the health systems globally, fuelled by rumours and mis-information.
The disruptions of (medical) supply chains, the lack of capacity to treat patients and the spread of rumours fuel an atmosphere of uncertainty and mistrust, hampering an effective response. While traditional models of disease outbreaks largely focus on infection rates, new methods are needed to integrate behaviour from the bottom up, and integrated in macro-level models to coordinate the response world-wide.

All Hanken graduates represent the school and are thus ambassadors. Hanken is very proud and grateful for all the role models that exist around the school and welcomes collaboration with alumni. Within Hanken there is also a group of alumni who are involved in the development of Hanken’s core operation and are thereby appointed Hanken Ambassadors. The Hanken Ambassadors contribute greatly to the development of Hanken as an international business school with close ties to the business community.

Professor (emeritus), Christian Grönroos, is the initiator and first chair of CERS, Centre for Relationship Marketing and Service Management at Hanken School of Economics, one of the first research centres in the service research area. He is also one of the fathers of the school of service marketing and management that internationally has been labelled the Nordic School of Service Thought and is considered one of the leading scholars pioneering modern service marketing research.

Hanken shows support for Ukraine by offering students who have fled the war an opportunity to continue studying. Totally 30 independent study rights in Vaasa and Helsinki will be granted. If the demand for these study rights exceeds 30, Rector may later decide separately that Hanken grants more. Studies conducted via an independent study right are free of charge. An independent study right cannot not entitle the student to a degree at Hanken.

After taking a course, students should evaluate it and this way help to develop the teaching at Hanken.

Inom Hankens verksamhet finns även en grupp alumner som engagerar sig extra mycket i högskolans utveckling, de utses därigenom till Hankenambassadörer. Hankenambassadörerna bidrar starkt till utvecklingen av Hanken som en internationell handelshögskola med nära band till näringslivet.

En av grundpelarna för Hankens verksamhet är att främja socialt ansvar i alla våra aktiviteter. Etik, ansvar och hållbarhet är ledorden som genomsyrar såväl studier och forskning som kontakten till näringsliv och samhälle.
