Vera Sevastianova

Vera Sevastianova is a doctoral researcher specializing in intellectual property (IP) law, with a particular focus on trademark law. The first paper of her PhD project applies the concepts of freedom of choice and autonomy to trademarks to explore how insights from trademark law can be integrated into the emerging landscape of automated commerce.

Her research also examines the intersection of trademark law and freedom of expression through a project on trademark parody, as well as the issues of sustainability and entrepreneurial autonomy in a study on trademark tarnishment.

Besides her research, Vera teaches IP-related subjects at the Hanken School of Economics in Helsinki. She also volunteers as a tutor (or a judge) for trainees at the IP Campus event organized by the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), where she additionally teaches trademark law.
