How can we build working lives that people can actually sustain over increasingly long careers? Hertta Vuorenmaa, university lecturer at Hanken, researches on the future of work and how we can create more human-centred, inclusive and sustainable workplaces in an era shaped by digitalisation and AI.

In autumn 2025, a new master’s programme in sustainability reporting and financial analysis was launched as a collaboration between Hanken in Vaasa and Umeå University. It is Finland’s first one-year master’s level programme at university level.

Biodiversity loss is among the biggest challenges facing us. In order to address this challenge, businesses need to implement governance principles that promote the protection of our nature. Theresa Harrer, a postdoctoral researcher at Hanken School of Economics, is on a mission to find out how these governance principles for biodiversity should look like.

Top Finnish design from the 1950s, carefully thought-out lighting, colours and soft flooring for a friendly and cozy atmosphere, and beautiful windows bringing natural light and the city outside into the rooms. Helsinki Design Week is the largest design and architecture festival in the Nordic countries and takes place 8-17.9.2023. The programme offers over 100 events and for the first time Hanken's main building is also part of the festival.

This year Hanken received 454 applications to the Master's degree studies in English. An exceptionally high number of the applicants, 45 %, fulfilled the general eligibility requirements.

The new eight storey building in Arabianranta, Helsinki, combines student housing and state of the art sports facilities.The building accomodates apartments on the lower levels and a sports center including a fitness gym and a test laboratory on top.
