Graduation festivities

Graduation ceremonies are held twice a year for Bachelor's and Master's graduates. During the ceremony the Rector congratulates the graduates and hands out congratulatory letters. Please note that you will receive a congratulatory letter and a folder only if you take part in the ceremony. The congratulatory letter is a ceremonial document, not an official degree certificate. Degree certificates are issued electronically only.

The ceremonies begin at 4:00 p.m. However, you are expected to arrive approximately 15-20 minutes before the ceremony starts.

The ceremonies for the academic year 2026-2027 will be held as follows:

• 1 October 2026 for Bachelor's graduates in Helsinki
• 2 October 2026 for Master's graduates in Helsinki
• 1 October 2026 for Bachelor's and Master's graduates in Vaasa
• 22 June 2027 for Bachelor's graduates in Helsinki
• 23 June 2027 for Master's graduates in Helsinki
• 22 June 2027 for Bachelor's and Master's graduates in Vaasa

The ceremonies for autumn 2027 are preliminarily scheduled as follows:

• 30 September 2027 for Bachelor's graduates in Helsinki
• 1 October 2027 for Master's graduates in Helsinki
• 30 September 2027 for Bachelor's and Master's graduates in Vaasa

Please note that it is only possible to attend if you have registered for the event in advance. The number of guests you may invite will be specified in the invitation. The invitation will be sent (to the email address you provided in your application for degree certificate) 1-2 weeks before the graduation ceremony. Please also check your spam folder. If you have not received the email invitation 5 days before the ceremony, please contact studycounsellor-hki@hanken.fi (Helsinki) or studycounsellor-vaasa@hanken.fi (Vaasa).

Please note that registration for the Alumni Celebration for new Master's graduates is separate from the Graduation Ceremony.

The Alumni celebration for Master's degree graduates* will be held Friday 2 October 2026 in Helsinki. This is an opportunity for Master's degree graduates from the academic year 2025-2026 to celebrate this achievement together!

The dinner includes a festive three-course dinner with drinks. After the dinner there will be live music and dancing! This year's alumni celebration is for Master's degree graduates from Helsinki and Vaasa for the academic year 2025-2026 (1.8.2025-31.7.2026). The invitations are sent to graduates via e-mail.

* The Alumni celebration is a new tradition which is held instead of the fesitivities previously known as The solemn confernment of Master's degrees. 

Every five years Hanken organises a solemn conferment of doctoral degrees. All who obtained a doctoral degree within the past 5 years will receive an invitation to accept their doctoral hat and degree under a traditional ceremony. At the same time honorary doctors are conferred in recognition of their outstanding academic achievements or cultural and societal achievements.
