New PRME report published

There is increased focus on sustainability in the private and public sectors internationally. In Hanken’s latest PRME report, the School and its activities are scrutinised towards the backdrop of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).

This is the third PRME report that Hanken publishes (available here). Every new report has set goals for improvement and development. The theme for this report are the UN SDGs where both education and enterprises play a big part.

Hanken has during several years made efforts to focus on sustainability and social responsibility in teaching, research, engagement with companies and its own organisational sustainability. Hanken’s PRME report examines how well the School has met the PRME principles and the goals set.

“There is an interesting and valuable difference in how the subjects and departments have interpreted the mission to increase the focus on sustainability. It is, however, clear that sustainability and social responsibility have become more explicit themes both in Hanken’s strategy but also on the companies agendas and as an increased interest among the students”, says Nikodemus Solitander, Director for the Centre for Corporate Responsibility at Hanken.

In April 2008 Hanken was the first university in Finland to be accepted as a member to and to sign the principles of responsible management education - PRME. The Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME) initiative is the first organised relationship between the United Nations (UN) and business schools. The mission of PRME is to inspire and champion responsible management education, research and thought leadership globally.
