Professors of Practice at Hanken

A professor of practice is an experienced specialist who works part-time as a bridge between the university and the professional world, for example by bringing practical expertise into teaching and by supervising students.

Management and organisation

Shadia Rask

Shadia Rask

Shadia Rask holds a PhD in public health and has studied corporate responsibility at Hanken. Her research has focused on health inequities, employment trajectories, and non-discrimination in the labour market. Rask has previously led research and development projects at the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL).

Christina Dahlblom

Christina Dahlblom

Christina Dahlblom got her PhD from Hanken's Department of Marketing. During her career, she has worked e.g. as Business unit director at TNS Gallup, CEO at Hanken & SSE Executive Education and founder and CEO of Miltton Sparks. She has held board positions in several public and private companies.

Torkel Tallqvist

Torkel Tallqvist

Tallqvist took his PhD at Åbo Akademi University in 2012 , when he identified innovation patterns within the consumer goods and heavy industry trades. His latest engagement was serving as Investment Director for the wine company Inkerman at Krim, in Ukraine and Russia.

Finance and economics

Juhana Vartiainen

Juhana Vartiainen

Juhana Vartiainen has an extensive research experience, in macroeconomics and labour economics in particular. He is an expert in the analysis of Nordic economic policy in the post-war period, as well as wage formation and wage negotiations in the Nordic countries. Vartiainen has previously served as Director General of the VATT Institute of Economic Research and as Member of Parliament 2015-2021.

Daniel Pasternack

Daniel Pasternack

Daniel Pasternack holds a doctorate in Finance from Hanken and has a background as an entrepreneur and board professional. He is an expert in data-driven value creation and service production within the finance industry.

Marketing

Laura Ihanainen

Laura Ihanainen

Laura Ihanainen has a PhD in Marketing from University of Helsinki and has worked both in academia but also in the retail and software industry. She is specialised in sustainable development, especially on sustainable food value chains and grocery business.

Oskar Korkman

Oskar Korkman

Oskar Korkman, who has a PhD in Marketing from Hanken, has worked with corporations worldwide, and within Finnish society with e.g. Sitra, Business Finland, and VTT. He is an expert in questions related to market-focused strategy development, and customer insights.

Christian Fjäder

Christian Fjäder

Christian Fjäder has a PhD in international relations from the University of Sydney, an MBA from Bond University, and master’s and bachelor's degrees from Flinders University. He has published scholarly work on resilience, international security, geoeconomics, and strategic risk. Fjäder has served as senior research fellow at the Finnish Institute of International Affairs and director for policy planning at Finland's National Emergency Supply Agency. He has also held regional and global leadership roles at Nokia.

Accounting

Ingalill Aspholm

Ingalill Aspholm

Ingalill Aspholm holds a PhD from Hanken and an LL.M. degree from Hamburg University. During her career, she has held leading roles in the fields of regulation and sustainability, and as an expert on the EU Platform for Sustainable Finance. Professor Aspholm has particular experience in ESG issues and sustainability-related reporting.

Commercial law

Klaus Ilmonen

Klaus Ilmonen

Klaus Ilmonen has a doctoral degree in EU company law and corporate governance from University of Helsinki. He is specialised in company law and corporate governance.

Executives in Residence at Hanken

An executive in residence is an experienced business leader whose part-time role is to support the development of teaching and research from an industry perspective.

Management and organisation

Petri Kokko

Petri Kokko

Petri Kokko brings extensive leadership experience from the business world, both in Finland and internationally. He spent 18 years at Google in various leadership roles and has served as country manager for Nike in Finland. Kokko is a Hanken alum.

Henry Backlund

Henry Backlund

Henry Backlund, who holds a master's degree in pedagogy and an EMBA degree from Hanken in 2022, has been an entrepreneur for over forty years. He is the founder and principal owner of the family company Dermoshop, with Dermosil as its brand.

Esa Rautalinko

Esa Rautalinko

Esa Rautalinko, who holds a master of science degree from Turku School of Economics, has extensive experience from a range of industries, including defence, food, beverages, electronics, construction and wholesale. He has served as CEO of several companies, including Patria, Örum, Vaasan and Honkarakenne, and worked as a partner at FIM.
