Shadia Rask is a Professor of Practice at Hanken School of Economics. In her part-time role at Hanken, Rask contributes to teaching by giving lectures on DEI and migration-related topics and supervising theses. Rask has involvements in societal impact activities, and she contributes to Hanken’s internal DEI efforts and research consortiums.
Rask holds a PhD in public health and has studied corporate responsibility at Hanken. Her research has focused on health inequities, employment trajectories, and non-discrimination in the labour market. Before becoming an entrepreneur, Rask led research and development projects at the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL).
Rask’s core expertise is on social sustainability, particularly questions related to diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) and immigration. She has consulted on these topics for the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) and trained organizations across Finland and sectors.
Rask's work and research has received many awards, such as the ETMU Research Award in 2025. Rask received the State Award for Public Information for her contributions to public discourse on racism and inequality in 2024. She was responsible for the diversity-promoting recruitment experiment that was awarded the Innovator in Recruiting Award in 2021.
Rask is a board member for UN Women Finland and Startup Refugees. She contributes to public discussion as a columnist for YLE and her blog in Taloustaito.
