Since 1986 distinguished member of the Finnish Society of Sciences and Letters (Finska Vetenskaps-societeten).

In 2013 selected "Legend in Marketing" by the Sheth Foundation, USA.

Co-founder of the Nordic School of service research.

Initiator of the research and knowledge centre CERS Centre for Relationship Marketing and Service Management at Hanken School of Economics (founded in 1994).
