The Centre for Languages and Business Communication at Hanken is known for its diverse and high-quality language teaching. One example is the course Creative Community Engagement, where students volunteer in the local community while practising their communication skills in situations that cannot be recreated in a classroom..

Several students at Hanken School of Economics have been involved in helping a project for Unicef Finland to investigate how much children's rights are taken into account in Finnish listed companies. Unicef Finland report shows that the majority of companies do not consider or measure their impact on children.

On 6 December 2022, President of the Republic of Finland, Sauli Niinistö, awarded three medals to people connected with Hanken School of Economics. The medals are officially awarded on Independence Day, but Hanken will mark the occasion with a ceremony during the Rector's Christmas coffee at the School on 16 December 2022.

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are part of the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, a 15-year plan for advancing sustainable development globally. Hanken has developed a MOOC, an online course open for anyone, about the SDGs and how we can work to achieve them. The course starts on the social learning platform FutureLearn on 31 August. This text is a part of the MOOC and gives a sneak peak of some of the questions we will be tackling on the course.
