Project course: Event Management in Practice

Want real-world experience you can put on your CV? Event Management in Practice is a project-based course where you work directly with the organising team of a major international conference, Frontiers in Service 2026, held at Hanken in Helsinki 28 June–2 July 2026.

The course gives you hands-on experience across the full event management cycle—from planning and coordination to on-site execution and post-event evaluation—while working with large and diverse participant groups. You will take on practical roles in planning and delivering the conference, contributing to coordination, participant services, and on-site event operations, while gaining experience relevant to both operational and leadership responsibilities.

Learning takes place through pre-conference preparation sessions, active participation during the conference, and an individual post-conference project paper. You will apply marketing and service management concepts in practice, gain insight into sustainability challenges in event organisation, and develop skills that are highly relevant for careers in event management, services, marketing, and project-based work. Assessment is adapted to your study level, with Bachelor students focusing on structured reflection and concept application, and Master students providing a more critical and strategic evaluation of their role and leadership aspects.

Upon successful completion, you earn academic credits and receive a certificate recognizing your contribution to the conference’s management activities.

Course period: 16 March–31 July 2026
Attendance in Helsinki during the conference is mandatory.
