Hanken School of Economics receives an additional 100 000 euro from Fazer

Hanken has received a donation from Karl Fazer Oy Ab of 100 000 euro to the ongoing fundraising campaign HANKEN RETURNS.

This is Fazer’s second donation to the campaign, which brings the donations to a total of 200 000 euro. Through the donation, Fazers wants to support academic knowledge and the development of research in Finland.

“We are very thankful for this additional donation and to the fact that Fazer once again shows confidence in Hanken. Hanken and Fazer have had a continuous collaboration for a long time, which illustrates a good interaction between theory and practice. We are also very grateful for the opportunity to manage this donation as an investment for the future”, says Rector Karen Spens.

Fazer has participated in Hanken’s fundraising in 2010, 2015 and now 2017 with donations of 100 000 euro each respective year. Fazer has also been a corporate Premium Partner of Hanken for several years. The newest donation strengthens the co-operation even further.

“We are certain that both Fazer and the whole of Finland need internationally oriented and well-educated business graduates to succeed in the future and that is why we donate to Hanken”, says Christoph Vitzthum, President and CEO of Fazer Group.

Fazer is a family-owned company that has been a part of the lives of Finns for over 125 years. Karl Fazer was one of the establishers of the domestic confectionery industry. Fazer wants to offer products and services that enable a responsible and sustainable lifestyle now and in the future. The success of Fazer is built upon Finnish work and professional skills, as well as the acquisition of new talent.

The fundraising campaign HANKEN RETURNS will continue until 30.6.2017 and has, with this donation included, so far raised approximately 7,6 million euro. The aim of the campaign is to secure Hanken’s unique position as Finland’s only independent business school.
