Jane and Aatos Erkko Foundation donates two million euro to Hanken

Hanken has received a donation of two million euro from the Jane and Aatos Erkko Foundation to the ongoing fundraising campaign HANKEN RETURNS.

This is the second donation to the campaign, making the total amount of contributions from the foundation three million euro.

With this donation the Foundation's Board of Directors wishes to further strengthen Hanken’s internationally excellent research and teaching in economics. The foundation also wants to strengthen Hanken's financial position and its international competitiveness.

-Our aim is to support research and education of high quality and we have seen that investments in Hanken give results. We see this donation as a way of ensuring that Hanken will keep the high quality in the future as well, says the foundation’s Chairman of the Board, Nils Ittonen.

-The donation gives us a strong foundation to continue our efforts and we are deeply grateful and humbly thank the foundation for its decision that shows a strong faith in Hanken. It demonstrates the continued confidence in Hanken and is a confirmation that we are heading in the right direction, says Rector Karen Spens.

This is the largest donation to the fundraising campaign, which has now raised over 10 million euro.

-The fact that the campaign has raised over 10 million is proof of the importance of aiming high and working with dedication. We have reached this result with joint effort, and it is on this path we continue when building the future of Hanken, states Spens.

The fundraising campaign HANKEN RETURNS will continue until 30.6.2017 and has, with this donation included, so far raised approximately 10.2 million euro. The aim of the campaign is to secure Hanken’s unique position as Finland’s only independent business school.
