Student Accommodation in Helsinki

Hanken student apartments: Isabella and Majsporten

If you are registered as present as a degree student at Hanken in Helsinki, you can apply for student accommodation. Student accomodation means apartments that are built with public loans by non-profit organisations. The rent is approximately 20 % lower than rents for private apartments.

All student accomodation rental contracts are valid for one academic year at a time. Requirements for getting a new contract for the next academic year is to be registered as present at Hanken in Helsinki and that you have taken care of your commitments in accordance with the rental agreement.

Hanken's Isabella

Hanken's Isabella (built in 2021) in Jätkäsaari has 78 studios and two one-bedroom apartments. The first temants moved in 1 September 2021. Half of the apartments have an ocean view and the other half has a view to the courtyard (attached image).

Rent in Hanken's Isabella:

Studio with kitchenette 23- 26,5m² 564-693 €/month
Studio with kitchenette 30m² 750 €/month
1bedroom apartment 51-52m² 1010 €/month

The applications for the apartments in Isabella are managed by Arcada Nova. Questions about your application can be sent to info@arcadanova.fi. An application is always required to get a rental agreement.

Applications are primarily prioritized according to the distance to Helsinki.

Majsporten

Hanken has 40 % of the apartments in Majsporten in Arabianranta, Majstranden. The Majsporten building (with an sports facility on the roof) was built in 2019.

The Majsporten student housing project is a cooperation with Arcada University of Applied Sciences. Applications are handled by Arcada Nova.

The Majsporten house consists of 103 apartments devided into 85 one-room apartments, 14 two-room apartments (couples and buddies) and four three-room apartments. 40 % of the apartments are reserved to Hanken students. Rents and apartments:

One-room apartment 24.5-32m² (60 apartments) 470-520 €/month
One-room apartment with alcove, (also for couples), 34.5-40,5 m² (25 apartments) 587-731 €/month for the whole apartment
Two-room apartment 37-45.5m² (9 apartments) 685-800 €/month for the whole apartment
Buddy Two-room apartment (2 separate rooms + a shared room with kitchen), 56-60.5m² (9 apartments) 896-940 €/month for the whole apartment

 

All rental contracts are valid for one academic year at a time. Requirements for getting a new contract for the next academic year is to be registered as present at Hanken and that you have taken care of your commitments in accordance with the rental agreement. HOAS (Foundation for Student Housing in the Helsinki Region) offers about 9 000 apartments for anyone undertaking full-time studies in a secondary level educational institution or university in the Helsinki region (Helsinki, Espoo, Vantaa or Kauniainen).  The private market is also well functioning and there is a lot of rental apartments on the market.

Student housing in Vaasa

VOAS (The Student Housing Foundation in Vaasa) offers apartments to students in Vaasa. The foundation offers shared apartments, studios and family apartments in downtown, Palosaari, Suvilahti, Huutoniemi, Gerby and Melaniemi.
