I am a postdoctoral researcher in the group "Leading People for Growth & Wellbeing". My academic mission is to produce new knowledge that helps organizations achieve their objectives in ways that protect the interests and well-being of their workers and benefit society at large. To fulfill that mission, I focus on a broad range of topics within areas of People Management and Leadership. Specifically, I study management approaches, behaviors, and practices that may help organizational actors deal with often paradoxical demands emerging from a simultaneous pursuit of economic priorities and individual/societal well-being.
I am also interested in methodological and measurement approaches to studying the effects of HRM (Human Resource Management) and leadership on employee well-being and organizational performance. In addition, I currently teach the basics of Quantitative Methods at the Master's level where I provide a brief overview of the main principles of quantitative research in a hands-on manner to those considering using such methods in their theses and beyond.
I received a Bachelor's degree in Finance and Accounting from the School of Management and Banking in Cracow, Poland in 2008 and a Master's degree in International Management from Hanken in 2011. For a short time, I had worked in management accounting in Poland and Finland prior to starting my doctoral studies. I received a doctoral degree from Aalto University's School of Business in 2019. I continued my research as a postdoc at the School of Business before joining the University of Vaasa for one year. I returned to Hanken in 2020.
Throughout my research career I have been involved in three successful Academy of Finland projects and two Tekes/Business Finland projects, collaborating with and working at Aalto University, University of Vaasa, and Hanken. In addition, I contributed to a successful grant application with colleagues from Vienna University of Economics and Business, from the FWF Austrian Science Fund given to 22 exceptional projects within the "1000 Ideas" Program.
