Timetable for graduation
In the timetable below, you can see by when you need to submit your Master's thesis in order to graduate on a certain graduation date. You should apply for degree certificate according to the timetable further down this page. The graduation dates are the same for master's and doctoral degrees. Please note that the deadlines for submitting your master's thesis and applying for the degree certificate online are absolute and you are not allowed to differ from these dates. Your thesis supervisor does not have the power to alter these deadlines. If your thesis is submitted later than the deadline then your thesis will not be handled nor discussed until the next upcoming Education Council's meeting. Please read the information below the timetable about the graduation ceremonies.

If you have applied for graduation for the date 26.1.2024, please note that your degree certificate will not be issued until 7.3.2024. Your official graduation date will be 26.1 but your degree will not be visible in Sisu until the end of February.
**Information about the official graduation date 31.7.2024
In order to graduate within the academic year 2023-2024, you must fill out the electronic application for your degree certificate no later than 31.7.2024. Your master’s thesis does not need to be registered in Sisu by this date, but you must have completed all studies, submitted the thesis and written the maturity test no later than 31.7.2024. In this case, your official graduation date will be 31.7.2024, but you will receive the degree certificate retroactively in September 2024.
Only in certain cases can temporary degree certificates for the graduation date 31.7.2024 be issued before the graduation ceremony in September 2024. One such example is if you have received a conditional offer for university studies for the autumn of 2024. Between 31.7.2024 and the graduation ceremony in September, we can issue you a temporary degree certificate, provided that all completed studies are available on your transcript and your study plan in Sisu is correct for graduation. This means that those submitting their master’s theses by the 31.7.2024 deadline can receive a temporary degree certificate no sooner than 31.8.2023. If you need a temporary degree certificate, please contact the study counsellors well in advance, preferably in June, to go through all the details (studycounsellor-hki@hanken.fi / studycounsellor-vaasa@hanken.fi).
