  • The Hanken building in Helsinki – a unique work of art

    Top Finnish design from the 1950s, carefully thought-out lighting, colours and soft flooring for a friendly and cozy atmosphere, and beautiful windows bringing natural light and the city outside into the rooms. The Hanken building in Helsinki was created by a dream team, says Päivi Helander, an Olof Ottelin researcher and one of the guides when Hanken participated in Helsinki Design Week.

    Helsinki Design Week is the largest design and architecture festival in the Nordic countries and takes place 8-17.9.2023. The programme offers over 100 events and for the first time Hanken's main building is also part of the festival.

    "Nya Hanken präglas av enkel saklighet", stod det på första sidan i Hufvudstadsbladet för exakt 70 år sedan, den 5 december 1952. HBL hade då besökt Arkadiagatan 22 i Helsingfors där man som bäst höll på att flytta in möbler i Hankens nya hus. Nu kan du läsa originalartikeln i sin helhet på vår webb! Av innehållet slås man av hur annorlunda vardagen tedde sig på Hanken på den tiden.
