Hanken AI Spotlight - Towards Responsible Government AI Systems
AI Spotlight is a series of 30 minute presentations in which Hanken shares fresh insights, emerging findings, and practical implications for research, business, and society.
Government agencies implement artificial intelligence (AI) systems to support or automate public services. However, such systems have also been found to reproduce injustice and result in expensive technology failures. This project sheds light on the anatomy of harmful AI systems in two ways. First, it provides a systemic explanation of how harmful government AI systems eventuate and exert impacts on citizens and other stakeholders. Second, it fills a critical void in knowledge on how harm caused by AI systems can be recognised and challenged.
