Bachelor's studies in Finance

The Bachelor's program in Finance offers a comprehensive education that prepares you for a career in the financial sector. The program is structured to provide you with a solid foundation in economic theories and practical skills, with a focus on understanding and analyzing financial markets, investments, and risk management. 

What you will learn

During your first year at Hanken, you will acquire the basic skills needed to understand economics. The mandatory core courses cover all major subjects as well as language studies. The goal is to provide you with broad foundational knowledge for your future career in economics. At the end of the first year, you will choose your major. Due to high demand for Finance, the subject has limited admission. 

If you choose finance, you will begin to deepen your knowledge in the subject during your second year. The courses include subjects such as financial theory, corporate finance, investment analysis, and portfolio management. Most of the second year courses in Finance are mandatory. The goal is to provide you with a comprehensive overview of Finance. 

During the third year, you will write your Bachelor's thesis, which gives you the opportunity to explore a topic of personal interest. Additionally, a mandatory semester abroad is included, where you can choose to study at a partner university. 

Suitable minor subjects during the Bachelor's studies mainly depend on your own interests. The most common minors are exchange studies, accounting, statistics, and economics.
