PhD studies in Economics
PhD studies in economics are organised jointly with Aalto University and University of Helsinki within Helsinki GSE. The programme consists of diverse doctoral courses and seminars which provide a thorough training in the skills required of the contemporary academic and professional economists. All doctoral students are expected to gain a broad knowledge in various fields of economics during the first years of studies when the three main compulsory course modules - microeconomics, macroeconomics and econometrics - are offered.
Please find more information on Hanken’s PhD program and the application process under Hanken PhD programme. More information on the PhD programme in Economics can be found on the Helsinki GSE website.
Research and research groups
Our researchers specialize mostly in industrial organization (IO) and behavioural and experimental economics. We study for example questions related to competition policy, behaviour and collaboration of individuals in experiments, electricity markets and structural modelling.
Our unit participates actively in the activities of Helsinki GSE’s research groups, especially in those of IO and behavioural economics. Please find more information on the research groups below.
