Hanken best in Finland and among the top three in the Nordic region
The Financial Times annually ranks the world's best master's programmes in management. Last year, Hanken was ranked 60th. This year, Hanken is ranked third in the Nordic countries for the third consecutive year and 56th globally.
“This year's Financial Times ranking confirms our master's programme's position as one of the leading programmes in the Nordic region. It is also nice to see that the employment rate of Hanken alumni remains high. Our education is campus-based and delivered in close cooperation with the corporate world and other societal stakeholders. I would like to thank our partners for their valuable contribution to our students' education,” says Rector Ingmar Björkman.
There are approximately 14,000 business schools in the world. Of these, only 100 qualify for the Financial Times ranking. The list is topped by the University of St Gallen, while Stockholm School of Economics, Lund University School of Economics and Management and Hanken are the highest-ranked business schools in the Nordic region. Altogether, eight Nordic business schools are included in the ranking: two from Finland, two from Norway, three from Sweden and one from Denmark.
The results in the ranking are mainly based on a survey sent to alumni who graduated with a master’s degree from the university three years previously, and partly on data handed in by the universities themselves. Hanken graduates have seen their salaries increase rapidly after graduation, and they also report having benefited greatly from their alumni network.
Hanken performs particularly well in several areas of the ranking. International experience is an important element of the master's programme. The school also has a fairly balanced gender distribution, with 48 per cent female students, a higher share than at many other universities in the ranking. Hanken also performs well in sustainability, both in terms of the school's carbon emissions and the integration of sustainability issues into teaching.
