Two new donations presented at Hanken’s Scholarship evening

Two donations of 100 000 euros each where handed over to Hanken at the School’s annual Scholarship- and Donor evening.

The donations come from the Ostrobothnian Evald and Hilda Nissi’s Foundation and company Helvar Merca Oy Ab.

"Hanken is an important educational institution in Vaasa as the university meets the demand for Swedish-speaking economists in the region. A donation to the fundraising campaign is a way to ensure that education in Vaasa continues to be of high quality, "says the Foundation's President Juhani Lassila.

Evald and Hilda Nissi’s Foundation was founded in 1964. The foundation supports, among other things, trade research, child welfare and youth work as well as research of eye diseases.

"To Helvar Merca, it is important that education in Finland is up-to-date and at a high level. Hanken has continuously invested heavily on strengthening its knowledge capital, on innovation and on internationalisation, which is precisely what is needed in Finland ", says the Chairman of the Board Philip Aminoff.

The fundraising campaign HANKEN RETURNS will continue until 30.6.2017 and has, with these donations included, so far raised over 5,4 million euro. The state will match all the raised money with up to three euro for every euro donated to Hanken. The aim of the campaign is to secure Hanken’s unique position as Finland’s only independent business school.
