New research project on AI and the Finnish economy
The research project AI and the Finnish Economy: Innovation Adoption, Tasks, and Labor Markets explores the impact of artificial intelligence on the Finnish economy from three different perspectives. The researchers combine theoretical modelling, empirical analysis of extensive register data, and behavioural experiments to gain a better understanding of how AI affects business operations, work tasks, and labour markets.
“Among other things, we will study how companies adopt AI, how the content of work changes as technology develops, and how employees adapt to these changes,” says Stenhammar, who leads the project.
The researchers will also investigate the role of AI in the startup ecosystem and test methods for promoting the adoption of AI within organisations.
“AI will have a profound impact on working life, productivity, and innovation. The goal of this project is to support decision-making on how Finland can maintain its competitiveness and take advantage of the opportunities created by AI.”
The funding period runs from 2027 to 2029.
